BigToolDeals ("BTD", "we", "us", or "our") operates the BigToolDeals website and related services.
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, when it may be disclosed, how long we retain it, and the choices available to you.
For privacy enquiries: hello@bigtooldeals.com
We aim to collect only information needed to operate the BTD service.
2.1 Email address. When you use passwordless sign-in, we collect your email address. We use it to authenticate your account, send the sign-in code required to access your account, and send notifications associated with alerts you create. BTD does not require you to create or remember a password.
2.2 Alerts. If you create an alert, we store the criteria required to monitor that alert and send you relevant notifications.
2.3 Technical and security information. BTD processes technical information necessary to operate, secure and troubleshoot the service, including authentication/session information and relevant security or operational logs.
We use personal information for purposes connected with operating BTD, including:
We do not sell personal information. We do not use personal information for third-party behavioural advertising.
BTD uses a session cookie to maintain an authenticated session. The production session cookie is configured with HttpOnly, Secure and SameSite=Lax attributes.
BTD does not intentionally use third-party advertising cookies or advertising pixels, and does not use cookies to build advertising profiles.
BTD's codebase includes an optional, privacy-focused analytics integration (Plausible). This is not currently active. No analytics script runs, and no analytics cookies or identifying information are collected today. If this is activated in future, this Privacy Policy will be updated first to describe exactly what is deployed.
BTD may send:
Alert emails include an unsubscribe mechanism. Users can also manage or delete individual alerts directly through their account.
BTD uses third-party providers necessary to operate the service, in categories including: email delivery; hosting and infrastructure; and product and pricing information used to identify deals.
Where personal information is disclosed to or processed by an organisation in a different country, BTD will take account of applicable requirements concerning overseas disclosure and processing.
BTD provides links to retailers, including Amazon. When you follow a retailer link, you leave BTD and interact with the retailer directly. The retailer's own terms, privacy practices, cookies, pricing, availability, shipping, taxes and other conditions apply to that transaction.
BTD may receive a commission from qualifying purchases through affiliate relationships. Our Affiliate Disclosure provides further detail. BTD does not receive payment-card information when you purchase from a retailer through a BTD link.
BTD does not retain personal information indefinitely. We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, to operate and secure the service, to meet legitimate operational requirements, or where retention is required or permitted by law.
Account and alert information is retained while needed to provide the relevant service. Authentication information (including sign-in codes) is retained only as needed for that short-lived purpose and for security.
When an account is deleted, the account and associated account information are deleted from active service systems. Database backups are retained for a limited period on a rolling basis, after which older backups are automatically deleted — a deleted account may therefore still exist in a backup for a short time before that copy is overwritten.
Users can delete their BTD account at any time using the account deletion function provided in the service. This permanently removes the account and its associated data (including alerts) from active service systems. As described in Section 9, a copy may persist in backups for a short period before being overwritten.
BTD takes reasonable steps to protect personal information against loss, unauthorised access, use, modification, disclosure and other misuse. Current measures include secure session cookie configuration, protection of authentication information, rate limiting and access controls. No internet-based service can guarantee absolute security.
BTD is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to BTD, contact hello@bigtooldeals.com.
Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, you may have rights concerning personal information BTD holds about you, including rights to request access to or correction of that information. You can also delete your BTD account using the account deletion function at any time.
For privacy requests or concerns: hello@bigtooldeals.com. BTD will handle requests in accordance with applicable privacy law.
BTD may use service providers and infrastructure located in a different country from where you access the service. Where personal information is disclosed or processed overseas, BTD will take reasonable steps to comply with applicable requirements concerning overseas disclosure and processing.
If BTD becomes aware of a privacy breach involving personal information, we will assess and respond to the incident and take any notification steps required by applicable law.
We may update this Privacy Policy when BTD's services, information practices or applicable legal requirements change. The date above will be changed when the policy is materially updated.
